Carter writes: "This painting is political, painted just before the 2022 American election. The sword comes from the biblical verse from Matthew 10:34. "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Fascism, racism and sexism must be defeated!
